Sallie Lau

Sallie Lau is a recent graduate of the Master of Marine Affairs program at the University of Washington and a research assistant at the Ocean Nexus Program. Sallie is broadly interested in environmental and labour justice in urban and coastal areas. She has worked on various research projects pertaining to the need for democratic planning in coastal development, to blue economy institutional and funding networks, and to the wellbeing and recognition of elderly frontline recyclers in Hong Kong. Sallie’s work has been published with the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy, and in the Journal of Environment and Development. Currently, through the Ocean Nexus Center, Sallie is working with Annet Pauwelussen from Wageningen University and Research towards developing a feminist praxis in marine conservation and fisheries research.
