Ruth Davis is a lawyer with an interest in all things ocean! She currently works in both the coastal and oceanic fisheries spaces, motivated by the desire to create a supportive enabling environment in which scientific advice and policy decisions can be implemented to effect real change. Her work in oceanic fisheries revolves around the central theme of equity in transboundary fisheries management. These include projects relating to transparency in RFMO decision-making; access to data to support transparent fisheries management decision-making; and improving equity in transboundary fisheries negotiations. In the coastal fisheries space her work focusses on governance of inshore fisheries in Pacific island countries and territories, and the strengthening of local, national and regional frameworks to support community-based fisheries management in the context of climate change and the need for food security. She attends the meetings of a number of regional bodies and RFMOs as adviser and ANCORS observer.
