Randall Abate was the Assistant Dean for Environmental Law Studies at The George Washington University Law School. He has three decades of experience teaching, writing, managing programs, and mentoring students at seven law schools and one university in the U.S. Dean Abate specializes in domestic and international environmental law, climate change law and justice, ocean and coastal law, and animal law. He has taught courses and delivered lectures on these topics in more than 20 countries on six continents. He has published six books, including Climate Change and the Voiceless: Protecting Future Generations, Wildlife, and Natural Resources (Cambridge University Press, 2019).

In his spare time, Dean Abate is an avid competitive rower, enjoys playing tennis with his granddaughter, and is working on writing his first climate fiction novel.
