Leah Huff (she/her) is a graduate of the University of Washington’s School of Marine and Environmental Affairs, where she earned a Master of Marine Affairs. Her thesis research looked at the impact of climate change-related disasters and adaptation strategies on the U.S. Filipino migrant community. She has also written articles for the UW Currents student blog on topics ranging climate justice and equity to colonialism and museum decolonization. At Ocean Nexus, Leah works to develop communications materials about complex policy, environmental justice, and equity issues in a more easily digestible format. In 2021, she hosted a COVID-19 hireability workshop focused on graduate student adaptability to the changing work environment. Leah has also helped organize and promote various presentations at the 2022 UN Ocean Conference, the 2022 Equity & Marine Plastic Pollution Report Launch, the 2023 Our Ocean Conference in Panama, IMPAC5, and the 2023 Ocean Equity & Justice Speaker Series event. With a background in geography, international affairs, and environmental studies, Leah hopes to better communicate the importance of equity and justice to a wider audience.

In her spare time, Leah enjoys playing piano, swimming, and performing traditional Filipino Folk dances.
