Katrina Côté-King
Student Fellow
Marine Affairs Program, Dalhousie University
Katrina Côté-King is a Master of Marine Management (MMM) candidate at Dalhousie University. Her research interests include marine conservation, sustainable and small-scale fisheries, and implementation of effective management to improve both biodiversity and socio-economic sectors affiliated with the marine sector. As a student fellow with the Ocean Nexus program, Katrina is focusing on international sustainable fisheries and eco-certifications. Under the supervision of Dr. Megan Bailey and Dr. Hussain Sinan, Katrina is conducting research on how the Maldives achieving Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification in 2012 has impacted surrounding small island developing states (SIDS) of the Indian Ocean. She is considering how such eco-certifications have impacted the social, economic, environmental, and political sectors of these developing coastal nations. After completion of the MMM degree, Katrina hopes to continue working on the sustainable management of marine resources and both Canadian and international small scale fisheries.
Katrina’s interests are scuba diving, hiking, skiing, reading, and horseback riding
