Jannatul Disha

Jannatul Shareat Disha is a legal scholar, researcher, and PhD candidate in International Law at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in Wuhan, China, supported by a fully funded Chinese Government Scholarship. Her primary research focus spans Maritime Law, Environmental Law, Climate Change, Law of the Sea, and International Arbitration. She holds an LLM in International Law from Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and an LLB from East West University, along with an IMBA from Beijing Normal University. Prior to her PhD journey, she practiced as a Legal Associate at MCLaw Services, specializing in Admiralty and Maritime Law. Disha is an active academic contributor whose work has been published across major academic presses, including Oxford University Press, Routledge (Taylor & Francis), and Springer Nature. She has published more than 10 peer-reviewed journal articles and single-authored or co-authored book chapters. Her publications cover critical topics such as vessel arrest and registration reforms, climate resilience and climate-induced migration in Bangladesh, UNCLOS implications for marine pollution, and sustainable IP rights under climate stress. Her ongoing doctoral thesis focuses on “Maritime Arbitration in Bangladesh: A Comparative Analysis ofLegal Frameworks, Institutions, and Arbitrator Expertise.”

In recognition of her expertise in ocean governance and international law, Disha has been offered a fully funded place by the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) to attend the 13th Yeosu Academy of the Law of the Sea.
