Dr. Harriet Harden-Davies is the Director of the Nippon Foundation-University of Edinburgh Ocean Voices Programme. She has more than ten years experience as a researcher and project manager in science and innovation policy and ocean governance. Her research interests lie at the intersection of ocean law and science, including international ocean governance and equity, marine conservation and sustainable development, capacity building and ocean stewardship. Marine areas beyond national jurisdiction and ocean science diplomacy are key areas of her work. Harden-Davies is a member of several international, interdisciplinary working groups and collaborates in initiatives that contribute to the development of a new UN treaty for biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
