Frédérique Fardin is an intersectional environmentalist from Martinique with a multidisciplinary background in Tropical Ecology and Environmental Management. Fardin pursued her PhD at the Coastal Research Unit of the University of Cambridge in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre, exploring the perceptions of environmental and climate change among small-scale fisheries and coastal communities, with a particular focus on mangrove ecosystems. In 2020, Fardin founded Roots of the Sea, an NGO she manages, dedicated to promoting coastal and marine conservation in Martinique through restoration, education, and youth training.
