Bernadette Snow, Ph.D.

Bernadette Snow (she/her) holds a PhD in Botany from Nelson Mandela University. She currently works as a senior lecturer in marine social science at the Scottish Association for Marine Science in Oban, Scotland and is an Adjunct Professor in the Institute for Coastal and Marine Research (CMR), Nelson Mandela University. Bernadette publishes in the fields of ocean governance, social-ecological systems, marine spatial planning and transdisciplinary research. She has contributed towards regional approaches for marine spatial planning and area-based management particularly for the Western Indian Ocean Region.

Her background in both natural and social science and approach to global problems from a systems perspective allows her to tackle inclusive and equitable ocean governance and hopes this will contribute significantly to the ideology of Ocean Nexus and inclusion of children’s rights.
