Assistant Project Coordinator
Communications Specialist
Simon Fraser University
Ana Lucía Pozas (she/ella) earned a MSc degree in Oceans and Fisheries at the University of British Columbia. Her thesis investigated the influence of diet quality on the divergent population trends of California sea lions in the Channel Islands (USA) and the Gulf of California (Mexico). Ana Lucía has worked with The Nature Conservancy, in her home country, Mexico where she researched and reported on the national status of aquaculture, as well as helped developed communication campaigns. This included featuring her on-land and underwater photography, which she avidly uses to communicate science. Ana Lucía aims to combine her creativity and scientific understanding to find new ways to communicate topics such as the importance of ocean equity, to wider audiences.
Ana Lucía loves to scuba dive, do nature photography, and try new things like filmmaking and drumming most recently! She hopes to visit Costa Rica’s Corcovado National Park or scuba dive in Tonga in her next travel adventure.
