Abdirahim loves the ocean, wildlife, and nature. He has worked in the Somali Government, Ministry of Fisheries, covering fisheries and marine resources, working in fisheries policy, management, and development programs. He earned a BSc in Biology and Chemistry and earned an MBA at the Northern University of Malaysia. Abdirahim Ibrahim is a MMM student, currently a Student Fellow with the Nippon Foundation Ocean Nexus Program at the Dalhousie University of Marine Affairs Program. His research interest is the inequitable burdens and incompetence of developing states and the essence of RMFOs governance systems towards shared fisheries resources. Abdirahim was a regular attendant and Commissionaire of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) and the Head of the delegation for Somalia. Abdirahim has won numerous scholarships and international travel grants to attend conferences and was honored as an outstanding young professional fisheries resources manager, marine spatial planning, and policy development. Abdirahim is looking forward to the interdisciplinary aspects of the MMM program and hopes to further his knowledge and understanding of fisheries management and ocean governance while exploring ways to sustainable and equitable use of marine resources.
